What is NTEU?
NTEU is National Treasury Employees Union. We represent over 150,000 employees across over 34 different federal agencies. Chapter 72 specifically represents IRS employees at the Austin Submission Processing campus.

How do I join NTEU?
You can join NTEU by filling out a Form 1187 in person or online. More information is available on www.nteu.org or in our office in the Submission Processing Building.

What does NTEU stand for?
NTEU fights to ensure federal employees are treated with dignity and respect. Whether that’s on the job or in the halls of congress, we advocate for federal employees to receive improved pay, adequate agency funding, better working conditions and work/life flexibility for the employees we represent and all federal workers.

How do I file a designation?
The designation form can be downloaded from our “Commonly Used Forms” page and emailed to nteu72notice2@irs.gov. You can also fill out the designation form at our office and give it to us in person.

How do I file a grievance?
All grievances first start off as designations. Please fill out a designation and we’ll make the determination to elevate it through the negotiated grievance process.

How do I volunteer with the union or become a union steward?
Fill out the “Steward Interest Form” on our “Commonly Used Documents” page. You can drop this form off in person or email it to nteu72notice2@irs.gov
